The recommended dose is one 3 mg tablet once daily at bedtime local time for a maximum of 4 days. If the 3 mg dose does not relieve the symptoms sufficiently, you can take a 5 mg tablet instead. The 5 mg tablet should not be taken in addition to the 3 mg tablet (ie not on the same day), but the higher dose can be taken on subsequent days. Maximum daily dose is 5 mg. Maximum treatment time is 4 days. NOTE that the timing of melatonin intake is important. The dose should be taken at bedtime local time. The tablets should not be taken before 20.00 or after 04.00. Do not eat food for 2 hours before or 2 hours after planned intake of melatonin. Do not drink alcohol before, during or after taking Melatonin Orion Pharma as it can reduce the effect of melatonin.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Should not be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Fertile women should use contraception during treatment. Melatonin Orion Pharma can cause drowsiness and impaired attention for several hours after ingestion. This medicine should therefore not be taken before driving or using machines. Store the blister in the outer carton. Light sensitive.
